Easter Egg Donation Drive 2026: Help Us Brighten Easter for Local Children
Thank you for thinking of Leicester Children’s Hospital to donate gifts this Easter.
Your generous donations help bring a smile to young patients during their stay. Each year, here at Leicester Children’s Hospital we have many young inpatients who need to be in the hospital for treatment over the Easter period. The team of fantastic Play Specialists we have at Leicester’s Hospitals do a great job of supporting them to celebrate events and festive days during their stay. But they can’t make Easter as special as they would like to for these little children without help from you and the community. You can help children to enjoy a treat in their hospital bed with your generous Easter Egg Donation gift.
This year, we ask that you bring no more than 10 – 20 items/chocolate eggs. We appreciate all the items we are given, however due the limited amount of storage available to our Children’s Hospital, we need to restrict how many items are given. You are more than welcome make a money donation as well.
What kind of things can I donate?
- This Easter, we are accepting donations of chocolate Easter eggs, in particular, multi-packs of Cadbury Creme Eggs, allergy/free from chocolate eggs and brand new, tagged cuddly toys.
What are the criteria for items I can donate?
- We are only able to accept items listed below
- We are unable to accept gift-wrapped items in any circumstance
- Every item must be brand new with tags and/or sealed, showing the correct CE/Kite safety standard marks
- We cannot give out handmade or hand-knitted items, toy weapons, out-of-date food or confectionary, or any items intended for those over 16
- We are not able to allow members of the public to come onto the wards and distribute gifts themselves
- We cannot distribute leaflets or advertise individual services or companies
Can I donate money instead?
- Yes! Every donation is special to us, and we are always grateful for your support. Your donation will go towards supporting the services at Leicester Children’s Hospital

How can I donate the gifts?
We have very limited storage space at our hospitals and can only accept donations on Friday 27 March 2026 during our Easter Egg Drive. Please call Sarah, Corporate Fundraising Assistant at Leicester Hospitals Charity, on 0116 258 8531 to book a slot to bring your gifts in.
This year, because of storage restrictions and record donation numbers, we are only able to accept a maximum of 500 standard Easter eggs in total. Any extra eggs collected will be distributed by the Play Team to the Children’s Outpatient Departments, our Chaplaincy Team and Volunteers to inpatients across Leicester’s Hospitals. We may also raffle Easter Hampers to raise money for our current campaign – Parent Facilities Appeal.
When making your donation, you will be greeted by colleagues from the Charity. There will also be an opportunity for you to have a photo taken. On day and time we allocate, you should bring to:

On-site parking is available at Holiday Inn Express Leicester for our supporters on the day. Please follow the signs to guide you into the car park and enter your car registration number at reception on the tablet provided.
