Hi,
I’m Kartar Singh Bring, Head of Chaplaincy. I was honoured to support Mani over the several years that she battled with cancer at the Leicester Royal Infirmary.
I am so excited to put our plans of creating a new Spiritual Care Centre at the Leicester Royal Infirmary into action to help others like Mani and Farvinder.
What matters most is that this new Spiritual Care Centre is inclusive towards everyone’s spiritual needs.
You already know that Leicester is a colourful city and its beauty is found in its diversity. And you know that we have a wonderful richness of people from so many different religious, non-religious and spiritual beliefs. And I’m sure you’ll agree that everyone should feel able to access spiritual or emotional support when they need it most – people like Mani and Farvinder. Our existing space is limited. The tired and functional prayer rooms accommodate the more established faith communities within our city. But we could do better.
We are raising funds to extend and improve our multi-faith spaces so more people can seek spiritual comfort in an environment designed especially for them and that people who are not religious will feel welcome.
With your help, we will transform the current space into a beautiful, spiritual haven that is inviting, welcoming and open to anyone within our vibrant community who needs to find a moment of calm and peace during their personal storm.
By helping to fund a video wall, you will help create a virtual sensory experience where anyone can visit the beach in the Maldives that Farvinder described to you, or go to another beautiful location, to take a moment to reflect and practice self-care.
Unlike a mural, this video wall will take you away from the hospital.
Imagine hearing the palm trees brushing when you close your eyes and opening them to see the cool waves of the ocean flowing towards the sand. Or the wind dusting the lavender fields of Florence.
More than anything, I would love for everyone at our hospital who is struggling with their emotional or spiritual wellbeing to find peace in our new space and come away feeling rejuvenated, re-energised and ready to face their day.
Today, you can give people like Mani and Farvinder the chance to take their mind away from the hospital, away from their treatment and bring them a priceless sense of peace for twenty minutes.
Throughout my nine years at Leicester’s Hospitals, I’ve always been humbled by the compassionate and generous nature of people like you within our diverse community of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
Please, if you can, make a gift towards a video wall and give peace to people like Mani and Farvinder.
Thank you from all of the NHS staff involved at Leicester’s Hospital Chaplaincy Services and the patients, relatives and staff that this spiritual haven will support.
